On arrival in Pozzallo, you will be directed to your tour coach for the start of your Sicily tour. You will visit typical Sicilian towns and experience some of the rich heritage this region of Sicily is so famous for.

Our first stop includes a visit to the Baroque city of Modica to enjoy some time in the city centre and the popular "Il Corso". Modica once so important as to constitute a kingdom within the kingdom, is today a prosperous town still dependent on its traditional agricultural economy. Admire the beautiful flight of steps leading to the main entrance and the statues representing the twelve apostles are the main features of S. Pietro's church. The main street or "Corso", with its mixture of magnificent buildings, modern shops and alfresco cafes. It is a thriving town centre. Modica is also renowned for its chocolate making, including ‘Cioccolato di Modica’ or ‘Cioccolata Modicana’. The Spanish introduced the recipe which they got from the ancient Aztecs of Mexico. Chocolate shop owner welcome visitors to taste and sample, one the most popular being the Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, which is a well known chocolate factory shop.

We continue next to Scicli, a UNSECO World Heritage Site. It is well worth wandering around this quiet little town, overlooked by a massive rock on which sits the unfinished church of San Matteo. Of the many palaces built by aristocratic families includes the Palazzo Benventano, just off the main Piazza, with its façade decorated with Saracen gargoyles. The church of Santa Maria la Nova, one of the many baroque churches in the town centre, houses Scicli’s best known icon, the Byzantine wooden statue of the Virgin Mary wielding a sword and ridding a white stallion. The Chiarafura Caves Dwellings, dug out in the cliff in prehistory, saw the last residents leave as late as 1958.

The final stop is another UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is Ragusa Ibla. It is typical Sicilian southern town built on a plateau. The charming streets are adorned with beautiful Baroque style buildings, in fact, one of the finest buildings in the whole of Sicily is right here, the Duomo of San Giorgio, which was designed by the architect Rosario Gagliardi. Before you set off on your walkabout adventure, enjoy the ambience of Ibla at a local cafe with a nice cool drink. Make your way to the Piazza and onto the main winding street which takes you to the Giardono Ibleo. On the way take a look at another of Gagliardi's work, the small but elegant church of San Giuseppe. The Giardano Ibleo is a haven of peace and quiet with an exquisite view of the valley below and beyond. Just outside the entrance to the garden is the gothic Portale San Giorgio, it is all that remains of the original church of San Giorgio, it was unfortunately brought to the ground during the earthquake of 1693.

The order in which we visit the locations may change as they are mentioned above.

On arrival at the port, you will check-in and board the catamaran. The crossing is estimated to take 1 hour 45 minutes. The Catamaran is equipped with restrooms, a very good cafeteria serving a variety of hot or cold snacks/beverages, and a small boutique/gift shop.

On arrival in Pozzallo you will be directed to your tour coach for the start of your Sicily tour. Our tour takes the eastern route before arriving at the first stop which is Mount Etna.

On the way to Etna we include a stop so you can sample some typical Sicilian delicacies, including wines, almond sweets and honey, this is a shortstop but it does give you an opportunity to purchase some genuine local specialities.

The drive up the Mount Etna mountain slopes takes us through picturesque villages and an ever-changing landscape. The lower slopes of the volcano are extremely fertile with groves of oranges, lemons and other Mediterranean flora and of course vines that produce Sicily's best wines. We go through forests of chestnut trees which gradually give way to oak, beech, birch and pine. During our tour of Mount Etna, we visit the Sylvester Craters.

NOTE
Our visit to Mount Etna will take you to 2000 metres above sea level, stopping at Silvester Craters. If you would like to visit the peak of the mountain and there is enough time to do this (you must check with your guide first) optional cable car and 4x4 truck/jeep tours are available, cost varies from €30 to €80 per person depending on which option you decide to take.

Our next stop includes a visit to the one of Sicily's most famous towns, Syracuse. Syracuse has come to epitomize Greek culture in Sicily, Magna Grecia. On arrival stroll through the old part of Ortygia Island, the heart of the city centre. Here you can visit the duomo a converted Greek temple and one of the oldest places of worship worldwide and equally as unique. End your tour with time to visit a local cafeteria and enjoy some of the local sweets, cannoli or locally made ice cream...simply divine!

The order in which we visit the locations may change as they are mentioned above.
